Overview

Raft the Mighty Fraser — Jasper’s Big Water!

Experience the biggest whitewater in the Jasper area on this exhilarating rafting trip down the Fraser River! Suitable for all levels of experience, you’ll tackle turbulent Class 3+ rapids bound to soak every rafter!

Minimum weight: Rafters on Class 3 rivers must weigh a minimum of 90 lb/41 kg

Highlights

This trip begins in Jasper where you’ll board the bus and enjoy a scenic drive to our launch point in the shadow of Mount Robson — the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. You will be provided with all technical equipment including wetsuits and, with your swimsuit already on under your clothes, you can get ready for the river in no time!

After a short instruction/safety briefing overlooking Mount Robson, your expert guide will launch the raft and maneuver it downriver. About mid-way through the run you’ll stop for a short portage around the impressive Rearguard Falls allowing you to stretch your legs and enjoy the view. Back on river you’ll enter the lower canyon section where you’ll experience some of the best whitewater Western Canada has to offer.

Once through the whitewater sections there is a short float, with the chance for an optional swim and to perhaps spot wildlife such as seasonal spawning salmon, bald eagles and bears that are occasionally seen in the area. The Fraser River is the backbone of our Class 3 Guarantee. When other river levels fluctuate, the Fraser lives up to its mighty reputation!

The total round-trip time is 5 hours which includes 2 hours rafting (including short portage), instruction briefing and bus transfer to/from Jasper. With intermediate Class-3 rapids this trip is exciting, wet and adrenaline-producing for all experience levels including absolute beginners. Rafters must be 12 years of age or older and weigh at least 90lbs (41kgs).

From Adventurers

The evening wildlife tour exceeded our expectations, both in the diversity of wildlife encountered and the quality of the tour guide/driver. We saw bald eagle, bighorn sheep, elk, moose and mule deer. Bear would have been good but it was not the best time of year for them. Josh was a fantastic guide, extremely knowledgeable, full of anecdotes and humorous. We stayed out longer than the scheduled time as there was so much to see.

Ross provides a fun and informative tour to those visiting Jasper to check out its wildlife evening tour. Enjoyed the hiking tour to Maligne Lake. It was chilly since it was October so layers were essential in the mountains along with a hot chocolate. Maligne Canyon is beautiful with its lichen lined walls bordering the aqua pool and waterfall. This is a definite must do adventure while in Jasper.

Beautiful setting and we saw moose! We were with a small group that split off into a smaller group for a hike or a cruise. We chose well! It's a short walk through the woods and near the lake. There's a nice waffle house and lunch room and seating by the lake and indoors for those that bring their own snacks. Highly recommend. Our guide, Catherine was a well informed, biologist / zoologist that had a lot of interest and context to our tour. We also saw sheep and elk along with stunning Mountain views
